I wore this look last week on one of those weird overcast spring days where your hair takes on that unmistakable lifeless-yet-frizzy phenomenon that we all know and love so well.  Bad hair day aside, this embroidered midi skirt by Maje is a new favorite addition to my closet and has proven to be an amazingly versatile piece in the short weeks since emerging from the box.  As evidenced by today’s photos, it can by styled with a classic white button down for daytime or a black silk cami for a special occasion.  The black background not only makes the embroidered floral pattern pop, but it also gives the skirt a much longer lifespan.  I’ll be pairing it with booties, tights and off-the shoulder sweaters (much like this look!) through fall and winter.

Of course, the white button down I’m wearing is none other than one of the $29 Uniqlo masterpieces that I was raving about in this recent Monday Memo.  They’re men’s shirts, so I’m wearing a size XS and the fit is absolutely perfect.  I’m telling you, if you don’t have a non-iron shirt like this in your closet, it will be the best $29 you’ve ever spent.  In the words of Tina Turner, they’re simply. the. best.
