THE BEST TRAVEL JEWELRY CASES

I’ve gotten a few requests for my favorite travel jewelry cases lately so here’s a breakdown of the best of the best after loads of research:

The brand Wolf is probably the most popular on the market and the Caroline case, was featured in “Oprahs Favorite Things” in 2016. They have a lot of options but my favorite is this one, a compact design that still holds a lot of jewelry. Not as suitable for larger costume jewelry, but for more precious and delicate pieces, it’s the best.

Another great option is the Wodison Zipper Carry-on Case which has snaps to keep necklaces from tangling as well as earrings and rings in place. It also has lots of pockets and a removable pouch for chunkier accessories. The downside to this case is it is on the larger side and comes only black.  A similar option is also available here which is a bit smaller and has more color options, but does not have as many compartments.

The last travel jewelry case worth mentioning is this fantastic hanging jewelry case made by Tumi.  It’s a really nice size for traveling and super lightweight. Personally, I just love being able to hang it in the bathroom and see everything easily in one place.

MY FAIR LADY AT LINCOLN CENTER

Reviving one of the most iconic, well-known shows of all time is no easy task, but after seeing My Fair Lady at Lincoln Center last weekend, I’m thrilled to report that Bartlett Sher (Tony Award-winning director) has done it again.  The cast is absolutely stellar, and somehow Lauren Ambrose (who plays Eliza) and Harry Hadden-Paton (who plays Prof. Henry Higgins) makes you quickly forget you’ve seen it a million times.  (Audrey who?  Rex who?)  Norbert Leo Butz (two-time Tony Award winner and you might recognize him from Bloodline and others) is absolutely genius as Alfred P. Doolittle and Dame Diana Rigg (Tony Award winner who played Eliza in the 1974 West End production!) is the perfect Mrs. Higgins.  I can’t recommend it highly enough.  We will DEFINITELY be going back to see it again.

CRYOTHERAPY

I documented this over the weekend on instastories, but on Saturday, I tried Cryotherapy for the first time and absolutely LOVED IT.  Throughout many years of competitive sports, my body has always responded well to any and all kinds of ice therapy—cold compresses, ice baths, all of the cold things.  My friend Lauryn has been raving about Cryotherapy for months (you can read her full post here thoroughly explaining the benefits), so I finally decided to give it a try at Quick Cryo in Tribeca.  I went in super sore from a tough workout the day before, and left completely rejuvenated and energized.  I’m a total convert.

WORTH THE SPLURGE: CLASSIC PUMPS PERFECT FOR WORK OR PLAY

I recently got these gorgeous Sergio Rossi pumps from Shopbop and can’t begin to describe the depth of my love for this shoe.  I got the mule versions (which have a slightly lower 3.25 inch heel) but they also come in a classic pump version (which have a 3.75 inch heel).  They’re a definite splurge, but the kind of stunning shoe you will have for years and years, no matter the comings and goings of trends.  The quality of leather is unmatched and the gold detail on the toe elevates them from your basic black pump without being too flashy or (potentially) tiresome.  I get a lot of questions about classic shoes and bags that splurge-worthy, and this one definitely falls into that camp.

ESCAPE THE ROOM

I’m a little late to the party here, but we did Escape the Room for the first time with family in town visiting for Easter last weekend and IT. WAS. SO. FUN.  At this point, every major city has several “escape rooms” and they come in all shapes and sizes, but we did the Victorian Home in Midtown.  The basic premise is that you and a group of people are locked in a room and have a limited amount of time to unearth clues and decode puzzles that will eventually lead you to the key which will allow you to… escape the room.  It’s a great bonding experience and an absolute blast, perfect for a cold, rainy day in NYC.  We’re dying to do another one!
