As indicated in yesterday’s Monday Memo, you know that I’m LOVING the belt bag trend this season.  If you’re breaking out in hives thinking that your mom’s embarrassing fanny packs are coming back, have no fear.  Today’s belt bags are chic, modern takes on the gnarly nylon nightmare that you may have seen growing up and especially when worn at the natural waist, can double as flattering waist-cinchers AND practical carryalls.  From a comfort perspective, I felt like a NEW WOMAN walking around completely hands-free [insert Will Ferrell “I don’t know what to do with my hands” joke here].

As discussed yesterday, if you’re unsure about whether you can pull off this trend, the See by Chloe bag I’m wearing today is a fantastic bag to start with because you can also wear it as a cross-body or shoulder bag as well (as you can see here at Shopbop).  It also appears that this adorable belt bag by Kate Spade offers the same multi-wear options and both bags are beautiful and versatile regardless of how you wear them.  Especially with warm weather and summer travels coming up, I love the idea of being able to throw my bag around my waist when going through the airport or even dancing at night and wanting to be hands-free.

Belt bag aside, I have to give a major shoutout to this striped Veronica Beard suit.  You can’t tell in these photos because I’ve styled it with a long white silk tunic, but the pants are not pants—they’re a jumpsuit!  I’m completely smitten with the top detailing and can’t wait to wear this jumpsuit solo when temperatures start to rise.  However, I feel like the jacket and jumpsuit together really offer the ultimate day-to-night duo, amiright?  I can’t wait to wear them this summer with the suit jacket during the day at the office and then this beautiful jumpsuit solo when grabbing waterfront cocktails après-work with girlfriends.

Of course, you also have the option to wear them like I did today with a tunic blouse layered between the suit jacket and jumpsuit as well.  I opted for this look simply because it was a little chilly out, wanted the extra coverage, and ended up really liking the layered look.  But either way, you’ve got options on options!  And, if (like me) your “summer bod” isn’t quite ready for prime time, don’t forget how unbelievably slimming and lengthening these strong vertical lines are.

What more can I say?  It’s easily one of my favorite suits ever.
