HONEYMOONING AT THE FOUR SEASONS SEYCHELLES

If the Four Seasons Seychelles is on your list of possible honeymoon destinations, well, all I can say is that it was truly the most idyllic, magical experience, and made for an absolutely unforgettable start to our honeymoon.  We legit got choked up when it was time to leave… which is humiliating, but true.  A bit about our stay…

A short walk from the beach, we stayed in the most idyllic completely private villa with two decks, an infinity pool, an outdoor shower, and a gazebo-encapsulated daybed—all completely secluded and overlooking an unobstructed westward-facing view of the most breathtaking turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.  Somebody pinch me.

Just off the resort’s private beach with immaculate white powder sand, there are several beautiful pools and lounge areas along with bars, dining, gym facilities, you name it.  We spent much of our time relaxing on comfy beach beds right on the beach reading in between swims, kayaking and snorkeling.

In terms of service, I can’t imagine a more friendly or helpful staff.  Throughout the day, attendants would come by our beach beds to offer fresh squeezed juices, smoothies, pineapple or watermelon spears, and iced towels.  All of the staff knew we were on our honeymoon and constantly made extra efforts to make the stay extra special.  Upon initial arrival to our villa, we found a beautiful (and DELICIOUS) “Happy Honeymoon” cake waiting for us with hibiscus flowers and fresh fruit on the coffee table in a little sitting area near the entrance.  Venturing further inside, we found a bubble bath in our huge marble tub with flower petals strewn around, two champagne glasses and a bottle of Veuve chilling nearby.  Not only did this make for an incredibly special welcome, but amazing surprise treats were waiting for us every afternoon when we returned to our villa.

Aside from reading under an umbrella on the most comfortable beach beds in history, swimming, snorkeling and kayaking in the bay, and hiking the trails around the resort, we took a few day trips to see more of the Seychelles.  One morning we hired a driver to give us a tour of the main island and bring us to the capital city, Victoria, where we checked out the Fish Market and got a little local flavor.  Another day was spent boating to neighboring islands, snorkeling in the clearest, bluest water I’ve ever seen and meeting the incredible indigenous tortoise population!

I still dream about the unreal breakfasts we would have each morning in their hillside restaurant overlooking the water.  For lunch we either ordered something to eat on the beach, or went to one of the poolside restaurants.  With the most mind-blowing pastries, fresh fruit, and fresh seafood each meal seemed even better than the last.

Each night before dinner, we either watched the sunset from our deck or infinity pool with glasses of champagne, or walked along the beach as the sun went down.  We then either walked to one of the amazing resort restaurants or enjoyed dinner right in our villa.

I could go on about this place forever—the views, the white powdery sand, the turquoise water, the spa, the MEALS, the friendly people—every second was absolutely exquisite.  It was the most blissful, heavenly ten days of my life.

As previously mentioned, we decided to split our honeymoon into two parts: the first part relaxing and recharging on the beach in the Seychelles, and the second part on a safari adventure in South Africa.  Since both destinations were a bit off the beaten path, we turned to our unbelievably helpful friends at World Odyssey who seamlessly guided us through the planning process.  I can’t recommend them highly enough if you’re looking to plan an exotic honeymoon or vacation!  Stay tuned for my next post with all of my packing and planning tips for a safari!
