I recently raided the new arrivals section of Ann Taylor and ended up finding just as many comfy knits and cozy layering pieces for off-duty holiday festivities as I did polished pieces for the office.
This past weekend I went hunting for my first ever REAL Christmas tree. My mom is allergic to them, so growing up we always had to have a fake one. I know. Talk about a rough childhood.
This faux fur vest was the perfect topper for weather in the low fifties at the tree farm outside of San Francisco. I also have to confess that I got this exact sweater in gray as well as burgundy because it is the softest, comfiest thing in the best oversized cut. I’m a huge fan of burgundy for Christmas festivities—it alludes to the holiday without feeling too clichéd if you’re sick of wearing bright red for a whole month. However, check out some of the bright red pieces in the widget at the bottom of this post—this skirt and these pumps are just about too good to resist.

I’m always a sucker for windowpane, so the second look today features these amazing navy windowpane cropped pants as well as this beautiful double-breasted coat in the prettiest pale periwinkle blue. I love a coat with a touch of color for putting over neutrals which I tend to wear more of during the winter months. Also, as you might remember from our wedding, I’m a huge fan of that pale peri, so it was a win-win.
Look 2: PANTS: c/o Ann Taylor (also love the pencil skirt version here) | SHIRT: c/o Ann Taylor | CARDIGAN SWEATER: c/o Ann Taylor | COAT: c/o Ann Taylor | EARRINGS: c/o Ann Taylor | SHOES: Jimmy Choo (similar here)
Ann Taylor seems to always be having killer sales, so below are some more favorites if you’re looking to snag a few holiday looks or winter staples:
